Taco Bout a Baby Shower for Baby Griffin!

Hey y’all!  It has been a hot minute since I have posted a blog post, but this is one I am SUPER excited about!  I have shared my blog post talking about how we have Baby Griffin on the way, I have shared our Gender Reveal, and now I am so excited to share our Baby Shower blog post.  We had the Baby Shower this past Saturday on May 18th and it was honestly everything that I ever wanted.  With the help of my Mom and Kierra, we were able to show my dream Baby Shower of Taco Bout a Baby!  It was amazing and I am going to share all of the details here with y’all now.

The first thing that I did was find the perfect invitations, which I could not have done without the help of Zazzle!  They have such an amazing variety of so many different themes for so many different occasions, so I am pumped to have been able to use them for creating my shower invitations.  I chose this design below and was able to customize the shape of the card and even got an adorable design on the back of the card!  If you order in bulk they automatically give you a deal, so I ordered 25 and got about 15% off I believe.  It came with the invitations and the envelopes, plus they looked so dang cute so it was worth every penny.  I paid under $50 I believe for everything including shipping, so I was definitely pleased with the service.

I did forget to make a part talking about having a diaper raffle, so I did a DIY project with my Cricut to create my diaper raffle cards.  I found a bracket shape design on google to match my invitations and then got the Cricut to write diaper raffle on it with all of the details on it.  I just used white cardstock and then a gold glitter pen and it was so cute!  The entire project cost less than $3 I believe because the pack of white cardstock was on sale at Michaels, so I didn’t even have to pay full price.

After the invitations came all of the decorations!  I didn’t want to buy a lot of decorations because that can become super pricey, so I was able to DIY some of the decorations with my Cricut.  I wanted a banner that said “Oh Boy!” on it, so my mom and I went to Michaels to pick up some blue, green, and cactus-themed cardstock.  After that, I just designed triangles via the design space with the Cricut and then printed out the letters “OH BOY!”  in the cactus cardstock in the font vogue and it looked so cute!  I even made a DIY cactus out of the scrap pieces from the letters, which I thought was adorable lol.  Kierra and I used super glue to glue the letters onto the triangles and I loved the outcome of it.  We ended up getting some decorative gold clothespins from Michaels and then used that to hang the triangles with the letters onto some twine to be able to hang it on my Mom’s staircase!  Here is the finished outcome of this project.

We also had the boxes that said Baby Boy sitting right under my Mom’s TV stand and it looked adorable!  She picked up the 6x6x6 boxes from Walmart I believe and then got the wrapping from either there or Target.  We wanted it to say Baby Boy on it, so I used the leftover white cardstock that I bought for the diaper raffle paper and used that to print out “BABY BOY” with my Cricut.  I used the font vogue to make the baby boy and then my mom just put tape on the back of the letters and placed them on the boxes.  It was such a cute idea and my momma did the dang thang with that.  Here is a picture of what it looked like!

Kierra also made the CUTEST diaper cake that I have honestly ever seen!  I am not sure how she made it, but I am obsessed with it and have it just sitting in the baby’s room because it looks so dang good!

For the plates, cups, napkins, and momosa (mimosa) glasses, we went to Party City and picked up all of those goodies and even got some super cute little decorations from there.  My mom bought regular cups and mimosa glasses in blue color and then bought some dessert and big plates in the color green to match the theme.  I picked up the Taco Bar banner and the Taco Balloon from there which was super affordable and then Kierra picked up Baby Shower games which were so much fun to play!  I also found the taco balloon from Amazon as well, so I linked it here just in case Party City doesn’t have it anymore.  Here are some of the pictures from the plates and cups that were used.  The decorative plates that say Oh Baby! Baby Griffin’s Baby Shower with the cactus design on it was from Zazzle! They were dessert size plates and were so dang cute.  We had some extra ones leftover and so I kept them because they are so precious.

When it came to the food and drinks, we probably went a bit overboard lol.  I contacted the local Taco Casa and got a taco bar catered because it was much cheaper than buying all of the ingredients and cooking them for each person to have at least two tacos.  It came with the ground beef, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, taco shells, and then they threw in three gallons of their delicious sweet tea! We also had wholly guacamole from Costco and then picked up Salsa and chips from Mi Cocina, so dang good.  I ended up making some nachos too that were a total hit with Doritos to eat with it too.  I went ahead and linked the nacho recipe too because it was a hit!  We had some fruit on the side too and a lot of people seemed to love that.  That was pretty much all of the food that we had at the shower and it was perfect.  For drinks, we just had little baby cokes, sprites, water, and then little juice boxes for my nieces, nephews, and little cousin! (I completely forgot to take a picture of the ground beef, that is why it is missing lol)

We had a Momosa Bar right next to the Taco Bar and this was a total hit for those that could enjoy Alcohol.  My mom bought the carafes from Target and then the little chalkboards from Party City I believe.  She had grapefruit, cranberry, and then orange juice to make the mimosas, they used the Barefoot champagne to go with it, and then had blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries that you could into the mimosa!  We went through about 7-8 bottles of Champagne I believe, but everyone really enjoyed them which was great.

The dessert bar was one of my FAVORITES and allowed me to support the small businesses around the Dallas area!  We had cake pops made by one of my mom’s friends friend whose name is Tamisha! Everyone LOVED them so much that they were gone in an instant lol.  You can message her through the link I posted for her cause the cake pops are a hit!  Kierra made some AMAZING sopapilla cheesecake which was delicious, my sister made some banana pudding which yummy as well, and my mom even bought some sugar cookies from Walmart which were plated with the cake pops.  We also had some decorative taco-themed cookies in the flavor vanilla almond and chocolate and they were a total hit!  Cookies by Chrysta did an amazing job on them and made my cookie dream come to life!  I went ahead and linked both the cookies and cake pops, so definitely check them out.
